So I Need A Blog
There are several ways that you can begin, but I believe the very best way is to begin with a blog.
Why a blog?
One of the most important things that you must remember is that you need people. You can build the best website or blog, but if no one visits it, it’s all useless.
In the current culture people want to be able to have a conversation. In fact, they want to be part of a community. People are tired of marketers just telling them what they need. With a blog we can give people valuable information to help them succeed and it gives them a way to communicate back to us.
People want someone to lead them. Seth Godin has a great book out titled “Tribes - We Need You To Lead Us”. I hope you already have the book, but if not you can get an audio copy at this link for your free copy of Tribes.
I will not go into everything he writes. Listen to the book and begin to put the priniciple into action. It will be life changing.
How do I get a blog?
There are several diffeernt sites that you can go to and get a free blog. Here are a couple. You can do a google search to find more.
1. Blogger
I have personally used both of these but they are not my favorite. Wordpress.com is free, but is very limited in what you can do and it is hosted on Wordpress’ server. For me, the best one hands down is Wordpress.org. Why is this? With it you can place advertisments on your blog, you can customize it, there are all types of plug ins, many different themes can be used, and you can host it with your choice of hosting companies.
Before you go out and download Wordpress.org, there is something you must do. The very first thing you must do is name your blog. As you do this think about branding yourself. What do you want to be known for? What is the niche you want to move into? If you don’t know what your niche is now that’s OK.
So, for now, think about your blog name and in the next post I will tell you how to get your domain name and start setting up your blog.

Great information, and great resources as well. I am a fan of wordpress. I started out using blogger because to me it seemed easier. Wordpress seemed so complicated. Now that I use wordpress, I realize that you can make it complicated, but there is so much more that you can do.

Nice post - totally with you on the conversation thing. It’s funny, I think people wanted to have the conversation all along, but now technology is making it even easier, especially for folks who don’t want to pick up the phone, write a letter, or meet face to face. That might be kind of sad, but it’s kind of exciting to see what comes of it all too.
